Nice Nortons at Charterhouse

    The Charterhouse specialist auction of classic & vintage motorcycles on Friday 1st September has well over £100,000 of Norton motorcycles and parts going under the hammer. “This classic & vintage motorcycle auction is held in conjunction with the hugely popular Carole Nash Netley Marsh Eurojumble which attracts a vast crowd of motorcycle fans from across the UK and the Continent. It is one of the highlights of the classic motorcycle calendar and we always have a great selection of entries but this year we have been instructed to sell some amazing Norton motorcycles from two collections, one in Reading and one in Liverpool. ” Commented Matthew Whitney. “Over the past few years the classic and vintage motorcycles market has increased greatly in value and we have Norton motorcycles from the two collections estimated from just a few hundred pounds for rare spares to £50,000 plus buyer’s premium 12% (inc Vat) for a 1951 Norton 596cc Manx/Watsonian sidecar which was raced by the legendary Pip Harris and has been on display at The National Motor Museum, Beaulieu. “The ex-Pip Harris Norton comes to Charterhouse from a collection of motorcycles in Liverpool, which also includes a 1956 Norton Model 7 Dominator estimated at £6,500-7,500 plus buyer’s premium 12% (inc Vat).Also in the auction are a collection of Norton motorcycles from a barn and garage in Reading. Included from this deceased estate are a 1929 Norton Model 18, with a rare saddle tank, estimated at £15,000-20,000 plus buyer’s premium 12% (inc Vat), a 1955 Norton International 30M for £10,000-15,000 plus buyer’s premium 12% (inc Vat), a 1950 Norton Manx 30M £20,000-25,000 plus buyer’s premium 12% (inc Vat) and a 1955 Norton Dominator 88 £4,000-6,000 plus buyer’s premium 12% (inc Vat).
