Designer Jewellery Fit For a Queen

    A small collection of jewellery by Andrew Grima is included in the Charterhouse two day auction of jewellery, silver, watches and antiques on 23rd and 24th August.

    “Andrew Grima was an Anglo-Italian jewellery designer who became known as the doyen of modern jewellery design in Britain.” Commented Charterhouse jewellery specialist Naomi Grabham. “He became the foremost jewellery designer in the West End in the 1960’s and 1970’s selling designs from his exclusive Mayfair gallery.”

    Andrew Grima designed jewellery has had many admirers and collectors over the decades. Notable patrons have include The Queen, Princess Margaret, Barbara Hepworth, Jackie Onassis with fashion icons Miuccia Prada and Marc Jacobs.

    The Grima gold brooches going under the Charterhouse hammer were collected by the owner in the 1960’s & 1970’s. With their original boxes, the brooches include abstract and naturalistic forms which are estimated to sell individually from £600 to £3,000.

    There are 270 lots of rings, brooches, bracelets and other jewellery from £50 to £10,000 along with 320 lots of silver and 50 lots of Rolex and other watches going under the Charterhouse hammer on Thursday 23rd August starting at 12 noon.

    This is followed by antiques and interiors with a selection of wine, port and whisky on Friday 24th August. All lots are available to view and download from or you can call into look at all the lovely lots at The Long Street Salerooms, Sherborne from Wednesday 21st.

    Charterhouse are now accepting further entries for their sale of classic & vintage motorcycles on 31st August at Netley Marsh, their 12th September auction of classic & vintage cars and their 21st September auction of coins, medals, stamps, clocks and collector’s items.
