Included in the Charterhouse three day December auction in Sherborne is a beautiful rainbow sapphire bracelet, the proceeds of which will be donated to the Yeovil Breast Cancer Unit Appeal.
“The owner, a retired Doctor, was inspired to fundraise having seen the support the nation has given the NHS during the lockdowns.” Commented Richard Bromell. “In the end, she decided to support the Yeovil Breast Cancer Unit Appeal who are looking to raise £2 million for a dedicated breast cancer unit at Yeovil Hospital and asked us to auction a favourite piece of her jewellery to benefit this important appeal.”
When the retired Doctor was thinking what she could do to support the NHS she remembered the 18ct white gold and rainbow sapphire bracelet bought nearly 20 years ago when in Australia.
The sign of the rainbow appeared everywhere in the first lockdown. It was a way people could show their support and say “Thank you” to the NHS, and the owner of the bracelet thought her rainbow sapphire bracelet would tie in very well with the NHS rainbow.
Set in fashionable 18ct white gold the bracelet is designed with a row of 37 claw set sapphires ranging in colour from yellow, golden yellow, orange, red, purple, dark to light blue and green.
In total the sapphires weigh approx. 5.95ct and is estimated to sell for £400-600 when it goes under the Charterhouse gavel in their jewellery auction on Thursday 3rd
December and could end up as a beautiful present whilst supporting a worthy cause.
