Two red sports cars in the Charterhouse specialist auction of classic and vintage sports cars offer drivers a different driving experience when they go under the hammer in their classic and vintage car auction on Sunday 23rd June.
“Red has been one of the most popular choices of colour over the years and within the trade it is often referred to as re-sale red such is its popularity.” Commented Matthew Whitney. “Although these two sports cars were built 54 years apart, they both offer drop top motoring in iconic brands in racing red which will generate plenty of smiles per miles!”
The first of the red sports cars is a 1933 MG J2 Midget. One of only 2,083 produced this 1930’s MG is powered by an 847cc engine which produced a healthy 36 bhp in its day.
Now coming to auction from a collector, who is having a change around of some of his cars, it is beautifully restored, ready to go, and estimated at £25,000-30,000.
The second red sports car is a 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300SL. An icon of the 1980’s, the SL range of Mercedes featured in popular TV shows such as Dallas. Although made in large numbers, this 300SL has been lovingly maintained and has full service history from Mercedes-Benz and specialist independent garages.
Now ready for some summer motoring, whether to the local chop on a Sunday for a newspaper or a run down to the South of France, this grand tourer is estimated at £14,000-16,000.
Charterhouse are now accepting further entries for this classic & vintage car auction on Sunday 23rd June at The Bristol Classic Car Show, Shepton Mallet and for their Saturday 1st June specialist auction of classic & vintage motorcycles being held at The Vintage Nostalgia Show, Stockton Park, Wiltshire.
