Based in Abigail’s office, Biggles meets and greet clients in reception with a waggy tail. He is also to be found wandering around salerooms looking for doggy treats and has been known to “liberate” the odd sandwich out of a bag.

However, his main role is to feature in our auction catalogues. He has a loyal following of people who “Biggle-Spot” in the catalogues – if you would like a catalogue please contact Barbara “Bubbles” Benney our receptionist.

xDoulton and Beswick

Some of our auction successes

We have built up an enviable reputation for conducting specialist auctions of Beswick and Royal Doulton. This department is run by Naomi Grabham, Associate Director. Naomi comes from a farming background and her Mother and her Grandmother have been keen collectors of Beswick and Royal Doulton animals and figures for decades, so it is not entirely unsurprising that Naomi has followed in their footsteps.

As an expert, Naomi takes great pride and pleasure in identifying not only the names of the pieces she values, but also their shape numbers and numerous colour ways. Over the past few years, Naomi has been an active member of The Beswick Collectors Club and regularly attends regional meeting with other enthusiasts. This has resulted in her building up a valuable database of specialist dealers and collectors, along with Charterhouse being instructed to sell collections for clients from Staffordshire down to Devon.

All of our auctions use live internet bidding platforms to ensure that every lot, whether it is worth £20 or £500,000, reaches the widest possible market and sells for the best price possible. In the run up to an auction we can receive over 1,000 emails requesting further information to lots in the sale. Attached to these email replies, we regularly send out over 5,000 digital images, such is the interest generated in our auctions.
